Architectural insight: Grand Hotel View, Brač, Croatia
Invisible door integration into modern architecture
The modern hotel on the Croatian island of Brač, with wonderful views of the sea horizon, was designed by architects DIA POZITIVA in collaboration with the authors of the interior, OCD architects. Doorson automatic sliding doors in various locations offer carefree entrances, provide a superior guest experience and complement the hotel’s appearance.
IMPRESSIVE WAY IN: All-glass elegance
The automatic sliding door as a part of the glass facade blends perfectly with the building’s architecture. “The installation of Doorson automatic sliding doors enabled us to accomplish perfect communication between the interior and exterior with a smooth connection of the entrance with the sea view,” explain the architectural bureaus.
Two automatic sliding doors 300 r form an interesting and energy-efficient asymmetric vestibule that prevents the intrusion of wind, which can be extremely strong on the island. In summer, it keeps hot air outside and air-conditioned air inside.
“We decided to install automatic sliding doors at the entrance for the reason of giving guests as easy access as possible. The advantage of such a solution is a hands-free passage, as people often have luggage, suitcases, bags, their hands are full of various things and are usually tired from the journey.”
TERRACE: Hidden door drive, discreet integration
Glass automatic sliding doors provide a bright atmosphere and better accessibility. They create a visually almost invisible but functional transition to the cafeteria and the terrace with the pool.
The OCD architects aimed for the door drive to be completely invisible. In one location, we see a suspended wooden ceiling that hides the door drive, and in the cafe area, the drive is part of the dark facade construction. “When designing the hotel, we used minimal solutions to create a sophisticated design with the feeling of staying in a well-thought-out space.”
Touchless access is a must in providing superior hospitality. “Arrangement of smooth passages is important for us architects because, on the one hand, it allows the staff to move around with full hands, and on the other hand, hotel guests pass through several times during the day to the pool, the beach, for a walk.” This is how architects describe the functionality of hands-free door opening.
Safe evacuation with redundant doors
Besides all the elegance and hospitality, the hotel View also takes care of safety in emergency situations.
Doorson automatic sliding doors 300 r, installed on escape routes, come in a redundant version and are equipped with an emergency switch. In the event of an emergency, fire alarm or power failure, the door automatically opens and stays open, allowing for the safe evacuation of people and goods.
